January 9

This week has been tricky, with my husband home.
I find it harder to get my day done as I normally do and I don't get nearly as many steps in before the gym. I think I'm getting a cold, so that makes it harder too. Anyway, tonight's fun facts.

Snow Days

We had a snow day yesterday!! Unfortunately it meant no driving to the gym, but I still managed to get 10,000 steps and 5 miles around my tiny home.

Thursday, I woke up sick, again. I have no idea what my crazy body is trying to do to me. My husband convinced me to take it easy, so I did. Then that evening, I was feeling upset because I hadn't met my Fitbit goals and I was going back and forth on whether or not to go to the gym to try and catch up. After wishy washing myself, my honey offered to drive me to the gym, take the kids for dessert, and come back for me, since he knew the driving was the part I was dreading most. ❤❤ So, a picture of post walk Caitlin and her Mr. Hunk.

Tonight was a good night at the gym. I walked a mile, used weight machines for 30 minutes or so, and then walked 40 minutes, just over 2 more miles. I'm feeling accomplished.

Today's stats!

Something else I'm proud about, my fitbit keeps track of my heart rate and in doing so also gives me a Cardio Fitness score. When I first started wearing this new Fitbit, my score was 20-22. Now, it's this!

Not a huge difference, but it's better. It makes me happy!

I also got my newBible yesterday. I'm 7 days behind, so I plan on doing two studies every day this week to catch up! I'm excited to share some of that here too. It's a big part of this journey. Being healthy, and focusing on the Wife and Mother I feel God is calling me to be are my focus points this year.

I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Yesterday Fun

So tonight, (err, last night?) my mom went to the gym with me. We stayed 2 hours!! We tried out every piece of equipment except for free weights. It was so fun! The night ended with a HydroMassage and Chair Massage for sore muscles. I'm loving this gym!

Daily Total

Those active minutes... so proud of me!

The day as tough, with a clingy not 100% Baby, but I feel so good tonight. For dinner I cooked the most delicious meatloaf and mashed potatoes I've ever eaten, and I am so excited about this new journey of healthier living for myself, but for my family even more so.

My new Bible should be here tomorrow. Yay! I'm excited to dive in and catch up for the year.  I'm looking forward to sharing more of that side of my journey here too.

Cha Ching!

Today has been so eventful! I started off the day with a Starbucks (Thanks secret elfster!) and then a shopping trip to Walmart. I stuck to my grocery list, which was based on my meal plan for the week, so double yay!

When I got home, organized my refrigerator and my honey helped me cook dinner. Here's mine!

Sweet potato 'bun', burger, fried egg, avocado and salt and Pepper. It was legit the best burger I've ever eaten in my life. So yummy!

Afterwards, I prepared a 'already to go' lunch for 4 days this week (or 2, if I share with my honey.)

Chicken Fajita Bowls
Chicken with homemade Taco seasoning
Bell peppers
Rice
Black beans and corn

I can't wait for lunch tomorrow!

Then, I decided to go to the gym. It's the first time I've been to this new gym, and when I got there and parked, anxiety and fear took over. I sat in the parking lot for 15 minutes until (with the help of my 'tribe') mustered up the Uumph to go inside. I'm so glad I did!

Before...

After!

Calories aren't right, I didn't use the heart monitor. :-)

I feel so good after going, and I'm looking forward to round 2 tomorrow.

So, with that, here are today's final stats!

Goal met! Mostly :-)

Even having a hard day, I met my 10,000 steps goal!

A Horrible Start to a New Year

You know what they say about making plans, right? Take all of what you know that is negative, apply that to my day, and you'll have the start of my 2017. So much so that I decided to take some profile shots of myself for future reference. I mean, when your day is already a mess, why not go ahead and take unflattering shots of yourself, right?

I am trying my hardest to not let it get the best of me, so despite all the no-fun things that have happened today, I have managed to catch up on laundry (except getting it all folded and put away) and cleaned the laundry room. I've also taken down the last hints of Christmas. It's actually really sad to me, taking down the Christmas Tree and all the pretty lights. Christmas is a joyful, wonderful time of year and packing it away brings out the "life goes too fast" feelings and the "now it's time to real life" again. The last three days I have been so sick I could hardly stand up. I'm not sure what I had going on, but it was debilitating. Today has been hard, but I am feeling better from *that* so I'll take it.

I've embarked on a new Bible Study/Reading plan for this year. Not only is it a nice devotional each day but it will get me through the Bible completely by the end of the year. It's an exciting thing for me to look forward too each day. Time to sit and read and engage in God's beautiful word. I think it's a good next step for figuring out who I am in this crazy life. You can get the Bible I'll be using here. It's on sale right now too, so Bonus!

I firmly believe that God lays things upon our hearts and minds with the intent to help us find the way we should go, or help us to see the answer to something else. For a couple weeks, the same Bible passage has been shown before my eyes several times. I was going to talk about it before now, but the time wasn't right. Today though, it is glaringly obvious that it is something I can use in my life right now.

James 1: 2-4

2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

The first time this showed up to me it was in a video I was watching about how to take time each day to study/pray/meditate/think/breathe each day. I didn't think a lot of it until a few days later when my Great Uncle posted the same passage on Facebook. Then I started thinking about it a lot.

God doesn't promise us that life will be each. Or that being a Christian will be easy. Or fill in the blank will be easy. In fact, it's quite the opposite. He tells us here that we will have times of trouble and that we will come head on to many problems and hard times in our lives. Like today, when 5,320,596,983,293 things everything has seemed to go poorly. I'm not just talking about little unimportant things either. Relationship problems with my husband and mother, parenting struggles, friendship hurtfulness, and the likes to vaguely name a couple. He also tells us that this is His perfect plan. Testing our faith produces perseverance. Testing our faith teaches us to keep looking to Him for answers and not giving up when we go through hard times or face troubles.

Just keep swimming, Caitlin. Just keep swimming.
